Who doesn’t like meeting friends over a good Sunday brunch? You get to catch up while munching on some bites? I know I do. I would shovel these so-called “bites” down my stomach whenever there was a gathering after work, at a conference, at a birthday party, a wedding- practically everywhere without paying attention to the harm these “bites” were causing until my body started aching. Each time I consumed certain food products like pizza, pork fried rice with ribs or a cheeseburger with fries followed with soda I would go down after with an excruciating pain episode. Some of which landed me to the emergency room. Naturally my first instinct was to cure the symptoms rather than to modify my habits. Until it just dawned on me. If I didn’t change my behavior I would eventually collapse.
When do you know you need a lifestyle change?
The body is a perfect machine that seeks to regulate itself. Just like a car it starts giving you signals when it is not operating at its optimum level. It starts breaking down until it shuts down completely if you ignore these warning signs. We live in a society where food is used for pleasure or entertainment. But its main purpose to the body is for energy fuel. Just like you select what kind of fuel to put in your car you need to select what food you put in your body to derive its energy. The type of energy will determine the mileage or distance the car runs. A food that does not provide the energy needed is just useless to the body. It is that simple.
I spent years with a chronic gastritis and I could not find any relief. I was operating on a low energy level that manifested itself into a general malaise, fatigue and insomnia. The daily work stress was not helping either. I thought that was the life now. Eating was no longer fun due to the aftermath. I had lost interest in food altogether until I made a drastic change in my diet.
I eliminated all dairy or animal products including meat, cheese and milk. Within a few months I noticed the changes in my energy level. I lost weight. I feel better and stronger. My eyes look clearer. I sleep better. My skin glows and looks healthier than ever. I was sick and I didn’t know it. The food I was eating was the venom killing me slowly.
